2023-11-21

In the 2023 Central Daily University Rankings, which marks its 30th anniversary this year, University of Seoul has been ranked first in comprehensive rankings for 8 consecutive years. Seoul Metropolitan University ranked 9th, the highest ranking since the evaluation began in 1994. Quanbei University ranks 19th, up 5 places from last year, and has received the best evaluation among non capital region universities. After Seoul University, Yonsei University (Seoul), Sungkyunkwan University, Hanyang University (Seoul), and Goryeo University (Seoul) are ranked 2-5th respectively, just like last year. The score gap between Seoul University, ranked first, and Sungkyunkwan University, ranked third, has decreased by 5 points compared to last year, and the competition in the top tier is more intense.

Central Daily University evaluated 53 major universities in South Korea this year. Among them, 46 universities with four or more departments in humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, medicine, and arts and sports were included in the comprehensive evaluation, while KAIST (Korean Academy of Science and Technology) and POSTECH from Pohang University of Science and Technology were excluded from the comprehensive evaluation. The comprehensive evaluation includes 33 indicators in four units: teaching research, educational conditions, student education, and reputation.
